KAKINDO UGANDA × IN PLANNING

A clinic within walking distance

This project began with a woman who could not safely store her HIV medication. Healthcare has been one of the seven pillars ever since — and the next building is a clinic.

WHY A CLININC

Distance is the illness

For an 85-year-old widow, a health centre several hours away is the same as no health centre at all. Treatable conditions become emergencies, medication is missed, and children stay home to care for grandparents instead of going to school.

A clinic on the same land as the academy shortens all of that to a walk. It serves the eight households of the village first, and the surrounding community alongside them.

What it will offer

—

Primary care and treatment of common illness

—

Maternal and child health, immunisation and growth monitoring

—

Chronic-illness support, including HIV care and safe medication storage

—

Elder care and mobility support for the widows

—

Health education tied to the academy and the organic garden

—

Referral and transport links to the district hospital

WHERE IT STANDS

Land secured, build ahead

SITE

1 acres

Shared with the Ubuntu Learning & Leadership Academy, newly purchased and secured.

FUNDING

Substantial donation secured

A major donation covers the academy and clinic build; equipment and staffing are still being raised.

STAGE

In planning

Design, licensing and staffing plans are being prepared with local health authorities.

WHO IT SERVES

Widows, children, neighbours

Eight widows and their children and grandchildren live in the village today. The clinic is sized to serve them and the surrounding households — the same neighbours who helped mould the bricks for the homes.
