THE JOURNEY

One storm, then a village

Mary's House

A storm tore Mary Bonekosira's home apart in December. Eighty-five years old and living with HIV, she had nowhere safe to sleep or store her medication. Her house was rebuilt — solid, dry and hers.

Eight permanent homes

Local teams raised eight housing units for eight widows and their children and grandchildren, with water and electricity connected to every home, an organic garden, and homeschooling on site.

A sustainable food forest

With the buildings done, the next goal is landscaping the village into a beautiful, self-feeding food forest — shade, fruit and soil that keeps giving back.

UBUNTU

“I am because we are.”

With Ubuntu International, Kiiza Wilbroad led the construction of eight permanent housing units for eight widows. Local teams did the building, community stakeholders held the plan accountable, and the homes now stand as long-term security for the women who live in them — not as charity, but as shared responsibility.

THE PEOPLE

Who is making this possible

It started in 2025 with one conversation between a young man from Kakindo Village and a reggae musician who had spent his life helping communities like it.
